Man Kidnaps Ex, Her Child, Leads Police on Multi-City Chase: Police

Police use stun gun to disable man, bring reported kidnapping to a close

A man was arrested Wednesday, accused of kidnapping his ex-girlfriend at gunpoint and endangering their child before leading police on a chase through Arlington and Grand Prairie, police say.

Dallas police said a kidnapping was reported at about 9 a.m. after witnesses reported seeing a man force a woman into a black pickup truck near Northwest Highway and Shiloh Road.

Witnesses said the man, later identified by police as 25-year-old Pedro Chacon, arrived at his ex-girlfriend's place of employment and forced her into his truck. Police said the pair's 2-year-old daughter was sitting in the back seat.

Arlington police later spotted the man's vehicle near Interstate 30 and Eastchase Parkway in east Fort Worth. Arlington officers attempted to stop the driver, but he instead led police on a chase into Grand Prairie.

With officers from Arlington, Fort Worth and Grand Prairie in pursuit, the driver stopped at a Shell gas station at I-30 and Belt Line Road. Still, the man refused to exit the vehicle.

Arlington police said the man was eventually taken into custody after an Arlington officer used a stun gun to disable the man.

The woman and child were unharmed, Arlington police said, and were interviewed by Dallas police investigators.

Arlington police arrested Chacon and charged him with aggravated kidnapping and felony endangerment of a child originating from a Dallas Police Department Domestic Violence Unit case. Police have not said if he'll face other charges related to the chase.

Chacon was transfered to Lew Sterrett Jail in Dallas and is awating bond. It is not clear if he has an attorney.
