The judge overseeing Texas' sweeping school finance case is expected to rule on whether he will hear new evidence based on the state Legislature's restoring $3.4 billion in funding to classrooms.
State District Judge John Dietz presided over months of testimony, then ruled in February that how Texas funds schools is inadequate and inequitable.
But his decision was based on lawmakers 2011 cuts of $5.4 billion from public education. The Legislature has now approved a new budget restoring $3.4 billion of that.
Dietz should decide Wednesday whether to hold a hearing later this year on what the new funding means to the case.
