Innocent Driver Hurt in Crash with Carrollton Chase Suspect

An innocent driver was hospitalized Thursday after authorities said his vehicle was T-boned by a car involved in a police chase in Carrollton.

Police said it all started as a traffic stop about 6:30 p.m. at Trinity Mills and North Josey Lane when officers determined the car had been stolen. They tried to pull the car over, but the driver, later identified as 33-year-old Brandon Dale Robinson, sped away.

A Carrollton police spokesperson said the chase lasted only a couple of minutes, but did reach a high rate of speed before the collision at the intersection of Josey Lane and Haymeadow.

"The impact, probably, was the worst sound," witness Yvette Vanpelt said. "When you heard the cars hit, then he came up and hit the ground so hard."

The driver whose SUV was hit had to be cut out of his vehicle, but police said he was responsive, even texting family members while on the stretcher.

Robinson was also transported to the hospital for treatment of injuries.
