Horses Killed After Barn Fire in Dallas

Two horses were found dead in a barn destroyed by a fire early Thursday morning in far Southeast Dallas, officials say.

Dallas Fire-Rescue was called to fight the fire inside a barn in the 9400 block of Leon Drive at about 1:30 a.m.

Crews managed to rescue several animals, including horses and goats, from the large building as firefighters worked to extinguish the flames.

Two horses were found deceased, possibly by smoke inhalation, firefighters said.

It's not clear what caused the fire. No firefighters were hurt.
