“Grinch” Strikes Dallas Family's Christmas Delivery

It was an all too familiar sound Wednesday - Christmas presents being delivered to the Musale family home in Dallas' Lakewood neighborhood.

But no sooner had the delivery been dropped off than it was stolen.

"[My mom] saw three packages being delivered around noon, and she just didn't take it in right away because we've had packages left all day and nothing's ever happened," Gaurav Musale told NBCDFW. "You don't realize that it could happen to you. I think that's the biggest shock factor."

A check of Dallas police reports shows that there have been at least two similar crimes reported since the beginning of the month. But often the victims don't realize they have been targeted because they were not expecting any deliveries.

Gaurav Musale contacted NBCDFW to warn other neighbors about what happened to him.

"Initially I was a little angered, but mostly disappointed, especially because these are Christmas gifts," Musale said.

This is expected to be the biggest online shopping season since 2010, according to this report from NBC News, which could create more opportunities for crime like this.
