Garland Kids Sell Hearts for Haiti

More and more children across North Texas are finding ways to raise money for the Haiti earthquake relief effort.

Alicia Pool sent NBCDFW a photo of a fundraiser going on at Luna Elementary in Garland. The Have a Heart for Haiti campaign has so far raised more than $800 by students selling large and small paper hearts.

The small hearts are $.25 while the large ones are $5. Students then write a note of encouragement on the heart before they are sent to Haiti.

With the exception of the postage to send the hearts to Haiti, 100 percent of the money raised will go to Haitians in need.

The kids will sell the hearts until Feb. 11.
