Man's Body Pulled From Submerged Vehicle in Garland

Garland firefighters said they pulled a man's body from a car submerged in high water Friday morning.

The vehicle stalled out near Brand Road and Balmoral, adjacent to Breckinridge Park. The Garland Fire Department had to break the window to free the man's body, who has been identified as 29-year-old Benjamin Floyd.

"It's difficult the day after Thanksgiving," Garland Fire Department Captain George Winton said. "Everybody's thinking about family."

Winton said it is unlikely another passenger was in the vehicle.

From Chopper 5, at least two other vehicles trapped in high water were visible in the area, though no other injuries or fatalities have been reported.

NBC 5's Ellen Bryan and Eric King contributed to this report.
