Galveston Man Convicted in Fatal Carjacking

A Galveston man has been convicted of murder after killing an area baker during a carjacking last year.

The Galveston County Daily News reported jurors deliberated for about one hour before finding 42-year-old Harold Norwood guilty of first-degree murder.

Authorities said he beat 53-year-old Juan Navarro in January 2013 before stealing Navarro's grey Lexus SUV. Norwood then used the vehicle to run over Navarro, owner of the Panaderia Navarro Bakery.

Norwood faces up to life in prison.
