Fort Worth Sprays for a Third Night

Crews sprayed the 76104 and 76110 ZIP codes in Fort Worth on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights.

The city of Fort Worth appears pleased with its first ground spraying for mosquitoes in 20 years.

Crews covered 40 miles of streets in the 76104 and 76110 ZIP codes on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. Those are the two areas where the most trapped mosquitoes tested for West Nile Virus.

City of Fort Worth Public Information officer Diane Covey said targeted spraying went on without incident and 100 percent of the targeted area was sprayed.

There are rising concerns about residents in the 76137 and 76244 ZIP codes due to an increase in WNV-positive mosquitoes and human cases. Those areas are north of Downtown Fort Worth and east of I-35W.  They could see spray trucks next. To answer questions residents within those areas can attend the following meeting.:

On its website, Tarrant County said it will only use ground spraying to kill mosquitoes for now. On its website, it said the concentration of insects is spread across the county as opposed to certain areas in Dallas County, where aerial spraying is underway.

The following Tarrant County communities will also have ground spraying: Arlington, Bedford, Benbrook, Euless, Hurst and North Richland Hills.  Click here for information Arlington's spray efforts.
