The Texas Forest Service said a firefighter died while battling a wildfire near Mineral Wells on Thursday.

The agency said the 25-year-old man was an out-of-state firefighter working for the Texas Forest Service.

The U.S. Forest Service said the firefighter, a contractor from Utah, was overcome by heat, leading to cardiac arrest. The firefighter died at a hospital at 7 p.m.

His name has not been released.

He was fighting a wildfire in Devil's Hollow just northwest of Mineral Wells.

The 337 Fire in Palo Pinto County had burned 932 acres and was 80 percent contained, the Texas Forest Service said Thursday.
