Ex-Houston Officer Convicted of Fatally Shooting Dentist During Fishing Weekend

A former Houston police officer has been convicted in the 2012 slaying of a dentist as the two friends argued during a fishing weekend.

The Galveston County Daily News reported Wednesday that the penalty phase continues for 66-year-old Dennis Roy Redding of Cedar Creek.

Jurors on Monday convicted Redding of manslaughter in the June 2012 shooting death of Dr. Mark Holcomb.

Prosecutors say Redding, who faces up to 20 years in prison, had been drinking during the incident at Holcomb's residence in Hitchcock.
