Ex-Dallas County DA's Investigator Admits Taking Bribe

A former chief investigator for the Dallas County District Attorney's Office has pleaded guilty to bribery conspiracy for soliciting and accepting a bribe from a man in return for getting criminal charges against him dropped.

Anthony L. Robinson pleaded guilty in Dallas to an indictment returned in June 2015 and unsealed Tuesday. The 53-year-old Mesquite man could get up to five years in prison and fined up to $250,000 when he is sentenced Oct. 12. As part of a plea deal, he agrees to pay $32,000 in restitution on top of any court-ordered restitution.

Court documents show Robinson solicited the bribe, disguised as an investment in a cattle business, sometime between mid-September 2012 and late May 2013. The suspect deposited $200,000 into a checking account he opened with Robinson.
