The bus attempted to go under the bridge, near West 7th Street, at about 12:40 p.m. when it got stuck underneath it.

Fort Worth Fire Department officials said seven of the 20 passengers on board the T bus were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.

"We was coming off from Camp Bowie, but we were doing a detour from the Stockyards," said passenger Denisha Kelly. "And when she came down this way I guess she thought she could fit under the bridge."

Officials said the driver of Bus 603 deviated from her usual route.

Several people are injured when a city bus crashed in Fort Worth, according to Fort Worth Fire Department officials.

"We will find out what we were doing on the street. We have a lot of routes go through this area," said Shawn Donaghy, chief operating officer for Fort Worth Transportation. "Part of the investigation will be finding out why the bus was on this road and if there were any detours."

Those are questions Kelly was asking after the crash.

"Just look at the bus and look at the bridge and see it can't fit," said Kelly.

Officials said it's too early to tell if there was any damage to the bridge, however West Lancaster in both directions opened after being shut down for up to three hours.

"I was halfway sleeping on the bus, leaning over and I heard of the collision," said passenger Earl Apprentice.

Hazmat crews were at the scene working to contain a compressed natural gas leak coming from the bus.

"We all heard the gas and everything leaking, so we tried to run off the bus as soon as possible because we thought it was gonna blow up," said Kelly.

Nobody was seriously hurt in the crash.

Fire crews deflated the vehicle's tires and removed it from under the bridge. It does not appear that any other vehicles were involved.
