David Dillon, the longtime architecture critic for The Dallas Morning News, died Thursday of a heart attack at age 68, the newspaper announced Thursday.
Dillon worked at the newspaper for 25 years before taking a buyout in 2006. Since then, he had continued to write occasional reviews for the Morning News on subjects like the new Cowboys Stadium and the Wyly Theater.
Dillon also taught architecture at Amherst College and the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
John Dayton, the chairman of the committee that helped select an architect for the Winspear Opera House, said Dillon positively influenced the evolution of Dallas' architecture.
