Officers responded to a shooting call at the home on the 3800 block of West Ledbetter Drive at 6:58 p.m. After searching the home, police said they found 44-year-old Bridgitte Manning and an unidentified woman dead inside.

Police said they detained the homeowner, Leonard Mornes, who initially told officers he shot the women after he found them burglarizing his home.

After investigating, police said detectives determined that Mornes shot the women after using crack cocaine with them, falling asleep and waking up with them still in his home after he thought they left.

Officers arrested Mornes, transported him to the Dallas County Jail and charged him with capital murder.
