One Dead After Garland Apartment Fire

Fire at 2914 Beltline Road

Garland Fire Department says one person is dead after a Friday afternoon fire.

The fire was at an apartment complex at 2914 Beltline Road.

A person was found deceased in one unit of the apartment complex. Officials did not release the name or other information about the deceased individual.

Investigators say the fire began in the bedroom of a second floor apartment and spread to the third floor. The cause of the fire is unknown.

Chopper 5 was on the scene, showing flames coming from the roof of the complex. Two apartments were damaged by the flames. Ten apartments had smoke and/or water damage.

Rescue crews were seen giving oxygen to some pets, including two dogs that were rescued from two apartments adjacent to the apartment that was on fire.

The apartment complex is working to relocate everyone who was affected by the fire.
