Bridge Over I-35E Near UNT Will Be Demolished, Rebuilt

Work is being done as part of widening of I-35E

Drivers should expect delays this weekend around Interstate 35E in Denton near the University of North Texas campus.

Crews are demolishing the North Texas Boulevard bridge.

If all goes according to plan, it’ll be gone by 6 a.m. Monday.

The bridge will partially reopen this summer, with one lane in each direction and one turn lane.

The work is all related to the 35Express project, which is expanding I-35E from Highway 380 in Denton all the way south to Interstate 635 in Dallas.

After the demolition, traffic along the frontage roads won't stop at North Texas Boulevard.

Traffic all around the project will face detours.

The new bridge will include two lanes and two turn lanes in each direction and a pedestrian walkway on the west side.
