Benbrook Police Investigate Property of Man Who Abducted Niece

Benbrook police are continuing to investigate a 24-year-old man police say abducted his 9-year-old niece and was killed in a struggle with an FBI task force in Louisiana Tuesday.

Detectives were given consent to search Jessie Williams' Arlington apartment.

A computer, cell phone and safe were seized and will be analyzed, according to Benbrook Police Department spokesman Sandy Eubanks.

Officers are investigating to determine if Williams "inappropriately touched" other children.

“Those items are going to be forensically examined by a section of the Tarrant County District Attorney’s office as a precaution,” Eubanks said. “We don’t have any reason to believe at this time there may have been other victims of the suspect but we want to be able to rule it out and that’s why these items are going to be examined and the case is not closed yet.”

Police did not say whether he inappropriately touched his niece, Caitlyn Williams.

“I don’t want to speculate at this point, ,but the fact that a 24 year old in the company of a 9 year old of the opposite sex means as an investigator you have to look at sexual abuse as a possibility,” Eubanks said.

Amber Alert Issued

An Amber Alert was issued for Caitlyn Monday after she had been missing since Friday. Police said several tips led them to a Bossier City motel room, where they found the girl and her uncle.

FBI officials told police that Caitlyn did not witness the shootout between her uncle and FBI agents.

Eubanks said Benbrook police were likely done investigating early Wednesday, but later said they were looking at Jessie Williams' property.

Family Reaction

Crystal Williams, Jessie's brother, said her family is confused about why Jessie abducted Caitlyn, but does not believe he had any intention of harming her.

"It’s completely out of character for Jessie," she said. "He’s not like that. He’s a protector."

Crystal said the family is also confused about why he took her to Bossier City, saying they don't have ties to anyone in Louisiana.

"Honestly, I just want to know why," she said. "The only person who knows that is Caitlyn, so we just have to wait and see."

No family members have addressed why Caitlyn's relatives waited until Monday to contact authorities about her disappearance on Friday.
