Midlothian police said they responded to several calls about a shooting in the parking lot of a Wal-Mart in the 400 block of U.S. 67 at 11:04 p.m.

Investigators learned three people met at the Wal-Mart and that for some reason they began to fight. According to police, during the fight 22-year-old Brian Taylor Speights pulled out a weapon and shot 19-year-old Andrew Douglas Woodrum and 20-year-old Marshall Dillon Henry.

Police said Woodrum was transported to Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas via medical helicoptor in serious condition after being shot in the torso. Henry was transported to Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Waxahachie by private vehicle after being shot in the arm and face.  His condition is not known.

Speights rode with Henry in the vehicle to the hospital and called 911 on the way and said he'd shot both men. He was taken into custody at the Waxahachie hospital and is currently being held in the Midlothian Jail on two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a second-degree felony.

Speights is expected to be transferred to the Ellis County Jail.
