Addison police issued an Amber Alert for a missing boy who is believed to be with his father. The missing boy is Michael John Mitchell. He is 2 feet, 6 inches tall, 45 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.

Mitchell was taken from his grandmother's apartment on Spectrum Drive around 12:40 p.m. on Saturday by his grandfather, 41-year-old Tommy Williams, police said.

Addison police and FBI agents reached Williams by phone and, after several conversations, he voluntarily drove to police headquarters with the sleeping child and surrendered.

Officers said there was an altercation between Williams and other family members before the boy's disappearance.

Addison police said no charges have been filed and that the case remains under investigation.
