Skinny, the 41-pound fat cat who had been living at the Richardson Animal Shelter, has a new home and a new diet.
Skinny moved to the East Lake Pet Orphanage Tuesday. She, yes she, will stay in Dallas long-term.
East Lake Pet Orphanage plans to put her on a weight loss program and monitor her as her weight drops, only then can she be adopted.
The vet hospital said ideally Skinny should lose 1/4 to 1/2 lb. per month, that means it could be a year or more before she hits her target weight.
Richardson officials received a call about a stray cat in a yard and picked up the 5-year-old female orange tabby on Sept. 13. Shelter officials thought Skinny was a male until a veterinarian examined the animal last week.
East Lake Pet Orphanage said it will accept donations to help offset the cost of caring for Skinny and operating the orphanage.
