The rapper who inspired James Franco's character in the movie Spring Breakers has been arrested on drug charges, reported the Tampa Bay Times.

Russell Allen Curry, 27, was arrested during a police investigation at Lauren Manor Apartments where residents had complained about frequent drug dealing, the Times reported.

Curry was being held on $20,150 bond on charges of selling and possessing marijuana, jail records show.

Franco spent time with Curry, known as Dangeruss, in preparation to play the character named Alien, a rapper and drug dealer who befriends a group of girls in town for spring break, according to the Times.
