Tyler Perry Wins at NAACP Image Awards

Tyler Perry scored awards at last night’s 42nd Annual NAACP Image Awards in Los Angeles, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The film director’s recent movie, “For Colored Girls,” won three awards including outstanding motion picture. Perry’s other projects in TV--including “Tyler Perry’s House of Payne” and “Tyler Perry’s Meet the Browns”--won Image awards as well.

Other winners last night included Denzel Washington as outstanding actor in a motion picture “The Book of Eli”; Halle Berry as outstanding actress in a motion picture “Frankie and Alice”; Ice Cube as outstanding supporting actor in a comedy series for “Are We There Yet”; Vanessa Williams as outstanding actress in a comedy series for "Desperate Housewives", Terrence Howard as outstanding supporting actor in a drama series for “Law and Order: Los Angeles”; and LL Cool J as outstanding actor in a drama series for “NCIS: Los Angeles.”

In music, Usher, Fantasia and Alicia Keys were honored. Authors Terry McMillan and former Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice were awarded for their literary efforts.

Holly Robinson Peete and Wayne Brady co-hosted the event.
