Rihanna: “I Finally Get to Let Go And Move On”

The songbird says she's ready to move on

Rihanna is ready to sing a different tune.

In an interview with GQ, the Barbados-born pop princess dishes on the Feb 8 assault at the hands of then boyfriend Chris Brown that left her bloodied and bruised and said she's ready to move on from the violent incident that helped inspire a number of tracks on her latest album.

"It's relieving because it was built up for so long, and all these thoughts and emotions have been running through my mind for the past eight months," Rihanna said. "And now it's like I finally get to let go and move on." 

The 21-year-old singer said she hopes fans will embrace her as she tries to distance herself from the Grammy night fight and reclaim her image.

"I wanted people to move with me cause the last big thing they know about me is that night," Rihanna told the mag. "And I don't want that to be what people define me as."

The songbird said she's channeled her thoughts on the incident into her latest album "Rated R." 

"I've put everything I've wanted to say for the past eight months into my music," she said.
