"I pay $7,500 per month for the kids, utilities, two mortgages and everything else that needs to be paid," Jon Gosselin said in a new interview.
Ex-reality TV dad Jon Gosselin said he isn't a deadbeat despite claims by estranged wife Kate that he drained their joint bank account of hundreds of thousands of dollars and left her -- and the kids -- broke.
"I pay $7,500 per month for the kids, utilities, two mortgages and everything else that needs to be paid," he told "Entertainment Tonight" in a new interview. "I'm not the bad guy here."
A tearful Kate Gosselin said yesterday she was worried she'd be unable to provide for her eight children because the divorcing dad allegedly withdrew $230,000 from the couple's joint bank account.
"When you've left their children and their mother unable to pay for the roof over their head, it's unacceptable," Kate told "Today" show.
Jon said the charges were bogus. He also claimed in the new interview he halted production of the family's new TLC reality show -- "Kate Plus Eight" -- because he thought it was harming his eight young kids.
"Right now, my kids are coming off TV," he told ET. "I'm not the bad guy here. I'm the one trying to protect my children -- that's called being a parent. I'm protecting my children. I need to pull them off television so we could work this out."
Gosselin, 34, insists he wants to try to repair his relationship with Kate despite the allegations that he was playing to the media while he bilked the family out of cash.
"If you fix the relationship, everything else will come," he said. "You won't have to worry about everything else."
