Memo to Jake and Vienna – this is how adults do it.

Season five "Bachelorette" Jillian Harris and Ed Swiderski have became the latest couple from the ABC franchise to part ways, amicably announcing they’ve called off their engagement.

"I love him and I'm really sad, but I have to look out for me," Harris, 29, told Usmagazine.com.

Swiderski, 30, who has been dogged by infidelity rumors throughout the relationship, described the pair’s decision as a “kind of resetting” for both parties. He did not close the door on the pair eventually reconciling.

“Jillian isn't happy and I'm definitely sad about the whole thing, but we've got to work through some things on our own if we decide to move forward,” Swiderski told Us.

News of their breakup comes two days after last season’s “Bachelor” couple, Jake Pavelka and Vienna Girardi took their tabloid war of words primetime on ABC.

Facing each other for what host Chris Harrison billed as a "hopeful attempt to find closure," Pavelka accused Girardi of constantly “undermining” and cheating on him during their relationship, while Girardi claimed her ex-fiancé emotionally abused her. She later stormed off the set in tears.

By comparison, Swiderski told E! News of his failed relationship: “there's no scandal, just little bit of heartbreak."

"We're not bitter,” he said. “We're working through our issues.”

Of the 19 couples that met on “The Bachelor” or “The Bachelorette,” just two are still together. Season one “Bachelorette” Trista Rehn has remained married to Ryan Sutter, and the pair have two children. Jason Mesnick wed his season 13 “Bachelor” runner-up Molly Melaney earlier this year after kicking his original choice to the curb in primetime.
