NBC 5 is proud to support innovative, hands-on projects that encourage STEM education -Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. On Saturday, June 22, NBC 5 and the American Airlines C.R. Smith Museum were excited to have an exclusive Buzz Aldrin book signing with a standing-room-only crowd.

American Hero and Apollo 11 former astronaut Buzz Aldrin signed copies of his new book, Mission to Mars: My Vision for Space Exploration. The second man on the moon talked with NBC 5’s Newy Scruggs on how he believes NASA should expand its Mission to Mars program.

Newy Scruggs also facilitated a Q&A with Aldrin about his book. Aldrin discussed the continuing need for space exploration and urged youth to discover the infinite universal frontier. In addition to Mission to Mars, Aldrin signed his children’s books, Reaching for the Moon and Look to the Stars.
