Napoli Heads To DL With Quad Issue: “It Was Really Bothering Me”

Mike Napoli will be eligible to return to action next on August 26

When catcher Mike Napoli returns to the Texas Rangers lineup next, the team will be on the home-stretch of the 2012 regular season, with their eyes on a third consecutive American League West crown.

Napoli was placed on the 15-day disabled list prior to Saturday’s match-up with Detroit, with an ongoing quad issue. Napoli played in Friday night’s series opener with the Tigers, but prior to that, he had missed each of the team’s final two games against the Red Sox with the same nagging soreness in the muscle that necessitated the DL trip.

It was really bothering me,” Napoli said, per the Dallas Morning News. “We thought the best thing was to get it right and be ready for the last part of the season. That’s what I’m hoping for.”

Napoli will be eligible to return from the DL on August 26.
