Jimmy Kimmel To Josh Hamilton: Just Don't Go To The Yankees

Hamilton appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Monday night

The Rangers’ Josh Hamilton spent part the team’s off day in Los Angeles on Monday with Jimmy Kimmel for a taping of ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! Unsurprisingly, it didn’t take too long before the conversation turned to Hamilton’s pending free agency, and where he might end up.

The host did his best to goad Hamilton into giving a hint on his future, but of course the All-Star didn’t take the bait. Rather, Kimmel gave Hamilton a simple plea: Wherever you go, don’t go to the Yankees.

“I would like you to not go to the Yankees, that’s all I would like,” Kimmel said, via the Dallas Morning News. “You can go anywhere you want. I think it would be nice if you stayed in Texas, if that works out.

“I’m a Mets fan, so I would like you to go to the Mets. That would be nice. Would you do that for me? Would you commit to the Mets right now, potentially costing you $30 or $40 million dollars with this decision?”

Hamilton responded that he has had some fun in Flushing, NY, the home of the Mets, in the past--namely, in 2008, he and a group of teammates whiled away the minutes during a rain delay by treating the tarp at the old Shea Stadium as an adult-sized Slip-N-Slide.

You can see the video of that (complete with a soundtrack from Rihanna!) here.
