Attention moviegoers - the "Zoo" will be open early this holiday season.
"We Bought a Zoo," the new film from writer-director Cameron Crowe, was originally slated to open Dec. 23, but reception to the film has been so positive that the studio is showing it nationwide on Nov. 26, the Saturday after Thanksgiving.
"Once in a while, we’re lucky enough to have a picture to which audiences of all kinds and all ages respond so strongly, that it demands a big and unexpected event," read a statement from Oren Aviv and Tony Sella in Fox's marketing department. "'We Bought A Zoo' is that kind of picture – and Thanksgiving is a great time to share it via this special very early preview."
This looks like a suicide mission from here, as that weekend is packed with high-profile films for every audience. For the children of varying ages, there's "Arthur Christmas," "The Muppets" and "Hugo," and for adults of varying tastes there's "The Artist," "A Dangerous Method," "My Week With Marilyn" and "Rampart." Yes, Thanksgiving weekend is among the busiest weekends of the year at the theater, but the field is already insanely crowded.
The sneak peeks will be done as part of a promotion in conjunction with Tout, a social media service, which will allow fans to submit reviews. And one lucky winner will get a trip for four to the San Diego Zoo.
