The Picks: Saints at Cowboys

It's not enough to say you're an enormous football fan and then just watch the games or play Fantasy Football every week. You've got to put a little skin in the game, dear readers, and make picks in public that open you up to being ridiculed if things don't go your way. Don't think about the downside, though. Think about the benefits you shall receive when your pigskin prognostications become the stuff of legend! Or just do it because all these other guys are doing it and you've got just as much chance of being right as they do.

Peter King (SI.com) - Cowboys 30, Saints 27. King's all about Tony Romo's play in the last few weeks, which is plenty of reason to pick the 'Boys against this defense.

ESPN - It's a 9-5 edge for the Cowboys this week, which is the exact opposite of what the ESPN pundits thought heading into last week's game against the Steelers. Will the minority rule once more?

Mike Florio and Michael David Smith, Pro Football Talk - Cowboys 30, Saints 24 (Florio), Cowboys 34, Saints 31 (MDS).

Yahoo! Sports - Mike Silver is the only one of the exclamation point gang who thinks the Cowboys will continue their push to the playoffs this weekend.

Pete Prisco, CBSSports.com - Cowboys 37, Saints 31. Prisco not only thinks the Cowboys will win the game, but he also thinks the win will cement Sean Payton's return to New Orleans.

The rest of CBSSports.com - It's civil war at the all-seeing eye as the remaining pickers split right down the middle on this contest.

Coin Flip (Home Team is Heads) - Saints (Coin's record: 6--8)

My Four-Year Old Son - "The Cowboys." "Why?" "I don't know how good the Saints are gonna do." "That's true. They've had some really good games this hear, but they have also looked really bad in a lot of games. Very inconsistent." "Huh?" "Never mind."

Me - The Saints offense looked very healthy last weekend against Tampa, but the game comes down to one thing for me: I trust the Cowboys defense, even in its depleted state, much more than I trust what the Saints have on that side of the ball. Cowboys 38, Saints 34. (My record: 8-6)
