Staubach Excited to See Where Romo Takes Cowboys

Roger Staubach has always been a pretty big Tony Romo fan

To say Roger Staubach is a Tony Romo fan might be an understatement.

Speaking at a flag football event benefitting the Wounded Warriors recently, Staubach made clear that he’s always thought highly of the Cowboys quarterback, and he’s fairly shocked that this isn’t a unanimous position among Dallas fans.

“I’m just mystified that we’re not all Tony Romo supporters,” Staubach told the team’s website. “He’s a fantastic football player. He needs some good people around him like we all do in life. He’s a winning, franchise quarterback.”

Last year, Romo did have “some good people around him,” and he made the most out of it, leading the Cowboys to their first NFC East championship and their first playoff victory since 2009. Staubach is excited to see where they go from here.

“Oh yeah, there’s no question about it. In the ’90s, it was a lot of fun to go to work every day, watching the Cowboys win,” Staubach said. “Now, it looks like we’re headed there again. It makes a big difference.”
