The Dallas Cowboys can be thanked for Tuesday's reminder about watching what you say on social media, or perhaps more importantly, where you say it.
Tuesday morning, someone tweeted from @DallasCowboys a message that said, "Similarly in the category of nobody-cares...the NHL is back!"
We're giving the sender the benefit of the doubt and assuming the tweet was meant to be sent from a personal account, and not to @DallasCowboys 502,000 followers.
Still, the folks with the Stars took offense, naturally, and retweeted the message while returning fire with a shot at Tony Romo.
At least our #9 got the job done..... RT:" @dallascowboys Similarly in the category of nobody-cares…the NHL is back!" twitter.com/DallasStars/st… — Dallas Stars (@DallasStars) January 8, 2013
Bazinga!
Rich Dalrymple, Dallas Cowboys VP of public relations, confirmed our suspicions Tuesday that the sender mistakenly sent the tweet from @DallasCowboys instead of from his own personal account and said "it's a moment that person is not proud of" and that the sender issued the following apology:
Apology accepted“@dallascowboys: @dallasstars our sincere apologies for the inappropriate tweet posted accidentally. Good luck this season.” — Dallas Stars (@DallasStars) January 8, 2013
The Stars accepted the apology.
