Wade Phillips experienced some success in Dallas, where he was head coach of the Cowboys for three and a half seasons from 2007-2010, but it was never anything close to what he just experienced this year as defensive coordinator of the Denver Broncos.

Having experienced a Super Bowl, and won it, Phillips just wishes he could have got it done as a head coach in North Texas—and in retrospect, he believes he had at least two good opportunities, with the 2007 and 2010 Cowboys teams.

“Once you win it like we did here, I feel a little bit disappointed that we didn't get it done in Dallas, because we had an opportunity, especially the 13-3 year,” Phillips told 105.3-FM The Fan, per the Dallas Morning News. “Actually the 2010 year, too, we had a chance to go all the way, but we didn’t.”

The 13-3 2007 team, of course, were bounced in the playoffs by the eventual Super Bowl champs, the New York Giants. As for that 2010 season, that’s the season Phillips became the first ever Cowboys coach to get fired midseason after getting off to a 1-7 start—so we’re not sure if Phillips is joking here, or if he’s still just unsure how that season went so awry so immediately.
