Manti Te'o Visits the Giants

New York will select with the 19th overall pick in this month's draft

Notre Dame linebacker, Heisman Trophy runner-up and former national laughing stock Manti Te’o visited the New York Giants last week, and many believe Te’o could find a home there.

The Giants are indeed looking for linebackers going into the draft. They allowed Chase Blackburn to depart in free agency (he eventually agreed to a deal with the Panthers) and cut Michael Boley. They signed former Cowboy and Panther Dan Connor but, since Connor is more of a reserve than a starter, they’ll keep looking.

New York owns the No. 19 overall pick, just behind the Cowboys, and there’s a good chance that Te’o could slip to them.

Paul Schwartz of the New York Post points out this week that Giants’ general manager Jerry Reese hasn’t seemed very concerned about that whole “fake, dead girlfriend hoax” thing and told reporters at the Combine that he’d like to judge for himself via a pre-draft visit with the Fighting Irish star. That visit finally came last Thursday and Friday.

Te’o has also met with the Vikings, Lions, Dolphins and Bears and will visit the San Diego Chargers this week.
