Staff Favorite: Cascabel Taqueria, Si Por Favor

My love for Cascabel Taqueria on the Upper East Side is deep. So deep, in fact, that when I arrived on a late flight from San Francisco I rushed straight there to discover they were closed and almost cried: Noooooo, how would I satisfy my craving?!

Any chance I have to go I’m there, and I order the same dishes every time. For starters, the Guacamole Tradicional Con Tostada—sometimes medium, sometimes hot. Next, the Carne Asada Tacos with grilled steak, house crème, oyster mushrooms and the most amazing small crispy onions. Then, the Elote Asado grilled corn with Mexican aioli, lime, and queso cotija. Finally, I end my meal with mini Churros and sometimes a snow cone, because I haven’t aged—what of it?

Every time. It’s amazing. And someday if I should get bored, there are many other options that are just as good like the Vegetal Tacos, and the Pollo Asado, and the Carne a La Plancha, and the… you get my point. They also have organic margaritas, aqua frescas and sangria made fresh daily.

Now, follow the neon and look for the luchadores, and go there. You’ll thank me.
