A few showers and thunderstorms will drift across parts of North Texas late Saturday afternoon and evening. But here in the metroplex, the chance of significant rain will remain rather low Saturday.
The main round of widespread rain and thunderstorms will arrive on Sunday. It would be a good idea to keep those Mother's Day plans inside. Widespread rain and thunderstorms will move across most of the area, with the heaviest rain expected to be south of Interstate 20. A Flood Watch will go into effect for that area Sunday morning and continue through Sunday night and into Monday morning.. While this may come as bad news, there is some good news - the severe weather threat appears to be very low.
Additional storm chances are in the forecast for later in the week, from Wednesday night into Thursday and Thursday night. It will be much warmer by next weekend, with 90s returning to the forecast.
