Texas-Sized Flavors At Fire Oak Grill

Hidden gem in historic square in Weatherford

The food at Fire Oak Grill is full of Texas-sized flavors anyone living in the Lone Star State can appreciate.

"Their Kobe burger is awesome, they've got a pork tenderloin that's really good and my favorite lately is a steak that they're fixing Pittsburgh-style or Chicago-style ... really, really good,” regular Ashley Conlon said.

Chef/Owner Eric Hunter is a Fort Worth native who said he’s proud to keep his cooking authentically Texan.

"A lot of chilies, big steaks and potatoes. That's Texan to me,” Hunter said about his culinary approach.

His grilled Australian lamb chops with butternut squash lasagna dripping in cranberry demi-glas and braised pork loins on a roasted pablano are two savory entrees that make many diners salivate for more.

Hunter has appeared with another Fort Worth foodie fave, Tim Love (Lonesome Dove) on the Food Network show Iron Chef. The duo wore cowboy hats as they cooked their way to victory against Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto.

Hunter said it’s the biggest achievement thus far in his culinary career.

“It was very cool. We're a bunch of guys from Fort Worth wearing cowboy hats on Iron Chef -- yup, it was awesome,” Hunter said.
