Fourth of July Sparkles in Dallas

An estimated 25,000 people braved triple-digit afternoon temperatures for the Fair Park Fourth in Dallas.

Spectators were invited to watch the 20-minute patriotic, pyrotechnic performance from inside the Cotton Bowl. Last year, thousands of people complained that they couldn’t see the show because buildings restricted their view.

But this year, the only complaints seemed to be directed at Mother Nature. Temperatures in the afternoon climbed to 102 degrees.

Several people were taken to hospitals for heat-related illnesses.
