10/11: Sing, Stand-up, and Clown Around

REBEL WITH A VOICE: She's one no-nonsense Midwesterrn tough chick with golden hair and bright blue eyes who sings from her gut. That's Illinois native Lissie whose country and folk mixed with a bit of rock sound can be heard on her debut album “Catching a Tiger” released in June of this year. Tonight she brings her charming swagger to The Granada stage prepared to showcase her vocals and guitar-strumming talent for Dallasites. The show starts at 7 p.m.

GREENVILLE COMEDY HOUR: If you know how to nail a joke’s punchline and are constantly getting compliments about how funny you are, then why not try your hand at it on stage? Tonight and every Monday night is open mic comedy at the Dyer St. Bar on Greenville. Let out all of your gripes about yet another inter-office memo or why you were always mocked in grade school for sporting a cowlick  – whatever it may be, bring to the stage! Provide some form of comic relief to crowds of strangers at 8 p.m.

SHRINE OF (CIRCUS) DUTY: With their red-tassel hats and big hearts, Moslah Shrine Center has raised hundreds of thousands in funds to support Shriners Hospitals for Children in Texas. The organization’s philanthropy encourages creative ways to raise money through galas, golf tournaments, sporting events, collection days, and circus acts. The 68th annual Moslah Shrine Circus held at Will Rogers Coliseum in Fort Worth is going on now until Oct. 16. Ringmaster Devin Chandler will host an event sure to make you take up trapeze. Don’t worry; all clowns are certified ambassadors in the Shrine and have attended Clown College. The show starts at 7 p.m.
