A colony of bats converged onto a building at the University of Louisiana Monroe, forcing it to close temporarily.

A number of bats were seen hanging outside of a building known as Sugar Hall.

The school's public relations director says the bats entered through vents and the ceiling.

One administrator says he saw thousands of the winged animals coming out of the building and streaming out of the vents.

A school officer and a student were injured at Wisconsin's Oshkosh West High School Tuesday morning, when the student was shot after attempting to stab the officer with a sharp object. The shooting comes just one day after a school resource officer at Waukesha South High School shot a 17-year-old armed student who refused to drop his weapon.

The university has hired a nuisance animal removal company that will relocate the bats without harming them.

Sugar Hall is expected to be closed until the issue is resolved.
