NBCUniversal, Inc.

A female pedestrian who was crossing Interstate 35E was fatally struck by a driver Tuesday morning, the Dallas County Sheriff's Office said. The driver remained at the scene and was cooperating with authorities.

The southbound lanes were closed but have since been reopened. The crash happened north of Continental Avenue in northwest Dallas.

Detectives say she was in the northbound left lane when a truck was driving over the hill and didn't see her in time to react. The truck struck her, knocking her into the southbound lane.

The victim has not been identified.

The driver who struck the pedestrian remained on scene and is not expected to be charged, officials said.
