Steve Jobsbragged about wireless printing from his stable of portable devices and today that feature is finally here.

Apple finally released its iOS 4.2 update for its iPhone, iPad and iPods Monday morning. In addition to offering wireless printing, the new OS brings much-needed multitasking to iPad owners.

Tablet enthusiasts will also find the ability to create folders and sort their applications by manually created categories. Both multitasking and folders were introduced on the iPhone earlier this year.

But easily the two biggest additions to the news OS update is the wireless printing and AirPlay, which allows Apple users to sync and play back media over compatible devices hooked to the same Wi-Fi network.

Still AirPrint has garnered the biggest headlines since Jobs announced the new OS in September. The set up allows iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch users to print a web page from Safari, for example, wirelessly to a local printer using a Wi-Fi connection.

But how well does the service work? PC Magazine tried out AirPrint early Monday morning and said while the feature is incredibly "seamless," it is also incredibly limited.

AirPrint currently only works with 10 HP printers and six more are on the way. But Apple promises the number of printer companies who will be able to sync with the service will increase in time.
