Who's On, Who's Not?: June 10

In a weekly staple, we'll discuss who's in a groove and who's in a rut for the Texas Rangers.

Who's On?

Leonys Martin — After taking a backseat to the emergence of rookie Delino DeShields as the Rangers' speedy outfielder/leadoff hitter du jour, Martin is starting to take back some of his thunder. Over his past five games, Martin is batting .350, is 3-for-3 on stolen base attempts and has two RBIs. He's also reminded folks that he is a much better defensive option than DeShields.

Mitch Moreland — Moreland has been on a tear and has added another power threat to the Rangers' lineup that was so void of it early in the season and for much of last year. He's batting .348 with a .423 on-base percentage to go with a double, two homers and four RBIs.

Chi Chi Gonzalez — The Rangers rookie has two big-league starts under his belt, and those have made up a stretch of 14 2/3 innings of scoreless baseball. Gonzalez tossed a complete-game shutout against the defending AL champs over the weekend and will take the hill on Thursday to close a series in Oakland looking to continue that stretch.

Who's Off?

Elvis Andrus — Over his last six games, Andrus is batting just .200 and has struck out four times. On the positive side, he is starting to be successful swiping bags again with a couple of steals in as many attempts.

Joey Gallo — The Gallo fervor has died down a bit, but he's still really fun to watch. In his last six games, he's hitting .208 with a homer, and he has 13 strikeouts in that time.
