Under-Radar Reacquisitions Come Through For Sweep

This spring, a couple of guys who played roles down the stretch in 2015 were cast aside for what the Rangers saw as better options.

Bobby Wilson lost out on a catcher's gig and was shipped to Detroit, and Drew Stubbs was designated for assignment and signed on with the Braves before spring training even came to an end.

Last week, both were brought back — Wilson reacquired from Detroit for cash and Stubbs signed to a major-league deal to serve as a late-inning defensive replacement and a pinch-runner.

On Sunday, Stubbs pinch-ran for Nomar Mazara in the eighth inning and scored on a shallow sac fly to from Ian Desmond to tie the game. After that, Wilson clubbed a grand slam to left field to blow the game wide open.

After both players were sent packing this spring, you could made a pretty penny betting that either, let alone both, would be integral in a key win to score a series sweep. It's good to be surprised from time to time.
