Tyron Smith Says Ware Helped Him a Lot

DeMarcus Ware joined the Denver Broncos after nine seasons with Dallas earlier this offseason

In 2013, everything seemed to click for Dallas Cowboys left tackle Tyron Smith.

There’s no doubt that Smith’s development was helped along by battling one of the game’s pass rushing greats, DeMarcus Ware, in practice each day. Ware is gone now, having signed with the Denver Broncos this offseason, but Smith remembers going against the franchise’s all-time sacks leader well.

He helped me out with a lot,” Smith told the team’s official website. “He helped slow the game down for myself, and so I’m trying to get a young guy to work with me the way DeMarcus did and kind of get on the same page of how we work around here.”

Smith earned his first career Pro Bowl nod last year, but he says there was no “a-ha” moment, and he certainly doesn’t believe he’s got it all figured out.

“No, you never really do feel it, I just kind of feel like you try to get better every week,” Smith said. “Just basically, I feel like I’m not at that point yet and I feel like I’ve got a long way to go.”
