Texas Safety Kenny Vaccaro Will Visit Valley Ranch on Wednesday

Dallas has a need at safety after cutting veteran Gerald Sensabaugh

With the Dallas Cowboys in need of some safety help in the wake of veteran Gerald Sensabaugh’s release, University of Texas safety Kenny Vaccaro will head to Valley Ranch for a visit this week. Vaccaro Tweeted the news on Monday afternoon.

Workout for the Cowboys Wednesday … Uh ohh,” Vaccaro wrote, all sic, per the Dallas Morning News.

Receiver Dez Bryant responded to Vaccaro’s tweet, “I’m coming to check you out.”

The workout will kick off a busy week for the Longhorns safety. After auditioning at Valley Ranch on Wednesday, Vaccaro will head back down I-35 South to prepare for Texas’ Pro Day, which is scheduled for next Tuesday. We’d be surprised if Dallas didn’t also have some representation in Austin for the Pro Day.

Vaccaro is slated to be picked up in the mid- to late-first round, and Dallas picks at 18th. Their safety situation is, uh, murky at the moment. The team is up against the cap as it stands, and they have one safety with starting experience in Barry Church--and that experience is limited as in 2012, his first year as a starter, he suffered a season-ending Achilles tear in Week Three.

Dallas brass remains high on Matt Johnson as well, but he missed his entire rookie season with injuries.
