Dallas Cowboys starting left guard Ronald Leary isn’t ready to rule himself out for Sunday’s matchup with the Eagles in Philadelphia.
Leary suffered a strain groin in the season-opening win over the Giants on Sunday night and was given an initial timetable of 1-3 weeks, but he’s going to do whatever he can to get on the field--if at all possible--on Sunday.
“That’s the goal,” Leary said, per the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. “I’m going to take it day by day. This is a game I’ve been looking forward to for a long time. This is a big divisional game, so I’m going to take it day by day, do all the treatment and we’ll see on Sunday.
As Charean Williams of the Star-Telegram points out, Leary was forced to miss a game last year with a groin injury, which remains the only game he’s missed since becoming a starter.
“It was bothering me some in the first half,” Leary said of the groin. “If you know anybody that plays football, they’re going to always fight through it. It was a pull play I had in the second half, and that’s when I felt it go, and I just couldn’t get it done anymore.”
