Romo Gets Thursday Off After Returning to Practice on Wednesday

Romo threw passes on Wednesday for the first time since September 20

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo was given Thursday off as a precaution, after returning to practice and throwing on Wednesday for the first time since sustaining a broken collarbone on September 20.

A lot of progress has been made with his rehab,” Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett said, per ESPN Dallas. “He doesn’t look like he’s not able to function throwing the football. He looks comfortable out there. Obviously he hasn’t thrown a ball in a little while. ... But again, it was a good start yesterday.”

The fact that Romo was able to practice this week, even on a very limited basis, has caused some to wonder if the Cowboys don’t regret placing Romo on the injured reserve/designated to return list, which makes him ineligible to return until November 22.

“We don’t think so,” Garrett said. “Again, it’s a process of the bone healing and that just simply takes time. We allocated that amount of time because that’s really what was prescribed for him to heal in coming back from that injury. All signs have been that he’s handled everything up to this point pretty well. He had a good day (Wednesday) and we’ll just keep taking his situation day by day going forward.”
