Rangers Need Gallardo to Continue Recent Run

The Toronto Blue Jays won a game on Tuesday night that they probably shouldn't have.

On Wednesday, they left no doubt who the better team was in a 12-4 beating of the Rangers in a game which saw the Rangers pitchers walk 11 hitters.

On Thursday, the Rangers will look to veteran Yovani Gallardo to help them avoid a sweep and stay within better striking distance of both the AL West and specifically the AL Wild Card, which they fell out of with Wednesday night's loss.

Gallardo has been good in August, and in his last start he had his best start since the beginning of July when he shut down the Tigers over six scoreless innings.

In his four August starts, Gallardo is 3-0 with a 2.45 ERA, and he'll look to continue that trend against the Blue Jays. To do that, he'll need to avoid pitching anywhere near the strike zone to Troy Tulowitzki, who has absolutely owned Gallardo throughout his career, even more than he owns every other Rangers pitcher.

A win on Thursday could put the Rangers back in a Wild Card spot, a loss definitely wouldn't.
